Eve big name Hollywood celebrities feel anxious and stressed before heading out into the world. While you might not walk a red carpet from your front door to your car door, it’s still likely that you feel anxious every now and then. With a little meditation, you can get a handle on your anxiety.

The Connection Between Anxiety and Meditation

Anxiety can cause a number of symptoms that can leave you feeling mildly uncomfortable or feeling so nervous and worried that you don’t even want to leave the house. Many people who suffer from anxiety feel nervous and jittery, but other sufferers can have problems breathing or concentrating. Studies found that those who practice meditation are less likely to suffer from anxiety and more able to get their anxious thoughts and feelings under control. When your heart starts racing and you don’t know which way to turn, meditation can help.

How to Meditate Every Day

You probably think that meditation is only for those who have time to lay around on the beach and relax with a good book. Between your home life and your work life, you might think that you don’t have time to practice meditation for yourself. As long as you have even 60 seconds free, you have the time. Sit near the edge of your chair with your back straight and your hands sitting loosely on your legs. Close your eyes, count to 10 and slowly inhale and exhale as you count. Powerful cleansing breaths are one of the cornerstones of meditation. If you have some private time, turn off the lights before you sit down and count. As long as you clear your mind and focus on your breathing, you’ll be able to slow down, observe your thoughts, and hopefully decrease any anxiety you might feel.
